That’s just like, uh, your opinion, man…

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

It’s almost spring, we just got through a few tour dates and we’re itching for more live shit.
I’m currently in an office building, half drunk and all I can think about is either a) finishing those 3 new APAM songs I’ve started and b) getting drunk and finishing those 3 new APAM songs I’ve started…
I won’t even hold a poll for that shit, because I know goddam well what the answer is…

Here’s something y’all can do for us while you’re waiting: Send us some video treatment ideas, and if you’re a cinematographer, WTF are you waiting for? Contact us and let’s shoot something.

Here’s the guidelines: Cheap, fast, thought out. No cheezy shit.

Bad analogies (contest)

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

No, not analorgies, analogies. Sometimes you try to explain something and use the wrong metaphores. APlotAgainstMe wants to read/hear them and to show you how much we care oh-so-much about all you have to say and think about, we’re turning a morning boner into a lottery for nerdery (not a disease, just an unfortunate mental condition we all suffer from).

So, email your bad analogies to fans @ aplotagainstme dot com (try to limit it to a few lines, including a nice setup for the story) for your chance to win an autographed copy of Deuce along with a signed photo of the band. We’ll publish the winning quote on the blog and on our Facebook page along with your name, address, credit card info and underwear size.

Read and weep…

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Aside from reworking songs and jamming the fuck out, the band’s been bonding through drinking beers and making horribly bad jokes about eachother and their loved ones. Douching around, as the fella says…

A short round of shows has been booked and we’re really goddam pumped to go make dirty sweaty love to your ear canals, all that with a fresh new sound and added surprises in songs.

Go check out www.aplotagainstme.com for details on dates, and listen to some tunes in the meantime.

Peace, love, oxycontin.

Who is Waldorf Grundell?

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

No one we know. APlotAgainstMe’s been working on new songs, changing the live dynamics to reflect changes within the band, all good changes of course…

We don’t have much to report because we don’t want to report too much. Surprise, surprise, bitches.

Whoa Betsy slow down….

Straight from the hive, here’s some news on them busy APlotAgainstMe bees…

Last month the boys recorded a new single called Burn Baby Burn that just so happens to feature new drummer Mike Raymond’s powerful skin smashing and some smooth new sounds for the rest of the lads . Call LiVE88.5 to request the shit out of it! 613.727.8850

The band’s live dynamic has taken another turn (we’re thinking for the better) and is touring as a three piece with Sylvain Lavigne on vocals and guitars, Shawn Bradley on bass and backing vocals, and Mike Raymond on drums. Also liking the new setup is Pleasure Beach Management, APlotAgainstMe’s recently signed managers based in Montreal QC.

“Leah Leave” was reconstructed last month as part of a feature in Canadian Musician magazine on the production of ‘Deuce’. Here’s a link to watch Shawn and Sylvain explain how they recorded the dang thing, and you’ll see some pretty pictures of Mike in there as well.

Canadian Musican Feature

This is a very busy week for APAM, namely playing at the Festival de l’Outaouais Emergent on September 11 as well as being featured in Le Voir magazine (on news stands and www.voir.ca September 10, 2009) and playing acoustic sets at a LiVE88.5 party and on TAG radio in Gatineau this friday at 5:30.

Oh yeah, and we’ve been posting a tonne of cool contests and new pics through our Twitter page (@aplotagainstme) and we’ve posted some new headshots and a clip of a video for ” Raise the Dead ” on our Facebook fan page too… Don’t miss out on all the fun, son.

Peace, love, overpriced gasoline.

Ch-ch-changes….

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

A little birdy’s been flying around the APAM nest spreading golden bird crap and colorful easter eggs of change. Some baby birds are now flying on their own, but some have been adopted and are now living at home with the remaining APAM dirty-birdies. (That means Welcome Mike Raymond on Drums). Summer is FINALLY getting hot, but it should get even hotter soon as the APAM boys are playing some shows in their hometown, which is always a good way to set your body on fire. Not only that, the rumour bird’s told us that a new video is being filmed in the close future… (reminder: get permits to burn shit).

Laters, let’s hug it out.

A bouquet of horse ears

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

The kind folks at Graffiti Shark Design sent us a bouquet of horse ears as a gift yesterday. Who knew horse ears could look so nice. Thought we would share the fun. Merci GSD.

Burn, baby, burn…

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Somedays you wake up knowing you’ve got something on your mind and it’s usually a headache/hangover or lingering dreams. Other times it’s cool fucking ideas. (footage of Sylvain patting the band’s back coming soon…). This is what we think of Burn Baby Burn. We can’t wait to unleash this spaghettiwesterncreampie on you. You just wait…

Posting some craziness…

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Wanna hear something crazy? Then go stand outside a big padded room at the insane asylum, douche.
First off : Welcome home Rainman. Mike Raymond has now officially crazyglued his ass to the drum stool behind the APAM drum kit. If you combine the 2 words in italic in the last phrase, you get stoolkit. Think about how clever that is.

Speaking of shit jokes, none were said in the van on the way to either Montreal of Toronto during the NxNe/Fringe Pop week. Odd. Usually, it’s all rank in that motherfucker, but nope. Most joking was done by Mitch Hedberg on the way to Montreal (PS: He’s a good/dead comic, look him up, well worth the 20 seconds it will take to find something on YouTube).

Big-ups to Jesper for saving my ass at the FringePop show in MTL. Our gear apparently decided to get wasted and mosh like emos in the trailer so my Amp head fell on its side and blew out a fuse. Odd how my amp acted like I did this past weekend: Drank too much, blew a fuse (I blew chunks though, not the dog, the semi-liquid). Jesper found me some fuses right before we got on stage.

Speaking of the show: What a crowd. The outdoors bar/circus sideshow deal was pretty much packed to begin with, then as soon as we started playing, rumor has it they heard us 4 blocks over, so the place got even more packed, with people ranging from 6 to 60 years old. i even cut the potty mouth so as to not be a jerk in front of 2 kids, but it was a useless move, because regardless of the few f bombs and what not, they got their parents to come meet us for photos and high fives. Killer kids! Oh, yeah and the place was pretty much full of hot ladies as staff/security, and of course there were some hot mens for the ladies there too. Although I suspect the crowd was a good mix of hetero and not-so-hetero couples/people. Note to a dude who screamed in the crowd: Yelling COCKSUCKAAAAA when we mention the song swearengen in front of a gay/lesbian crowd, probably a little impolite (although no one made a big deal of it, which is cool), but still hilariously bad timing. Thanks to all for letting us get REAL sweaty and dirty on stage, and as a plus, I can now add “Interlock” as another surface I’ve played a show on. Thank you lord.
