Posting some craziness…

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Wanna hear something crazy? Then go stand outside a big padded room at the insane asylum, douche.
First off : Welcome home Rainman. Mike Raymond has now officially crazyglued his ass to the drum stool behind the APAM drum kit. If you combine the 2 words in italic in the last phrase, you get stoolkit. Think about how clever that is.

Speaking of shit jokes, none were said in the van on the way to either Montreal of Toronto during the NxNe/Fringe Pop week. Odd. Usually, it’s all rank in that motherfucker, but nope. Most joking was done by Mitch Hedberg on the way to Montreal (PS: He’s a good/dead comic, look him up, well worth the 20 seconds it will take to find something on YouTube).

Big-ups to Jesper for saving my ass at the FringePop show in MTL. Our gear apparently decided to get wasted and mosh like emos in the trailer so my Amp head fell on its side and blew out a fuse. Odd how my amp acted like I did this past weekend: Drank too much, blew a fuse (I blew chunks though, not the dog, the semi-liquid). Jesper found me some fuses right before we got on stage.

Speaking of the show: What a crowd. The outdoors bar/circus sideshow deal was pretty much packed to begin with, then as soon as we started playing, rumor has it they heard us 4 blocks over, so the place got even more packed, with people ranging from 6 to 60 years old. i even cut the potty mouth so as to not be a jerk in front of 2 kids, but it was a useless move, because regardless of the few f bombs and what not, they got their parents to come meet us for photos and high fives. Killer kids! Oh, yeah and the place was pretty much full of hot ladies as staff/security, and of course there were some hot mens for the ladies there too. Although I suspect the crowd was a good mix of hetero and not-so-hetero couples/people. Note to a dude who screamed in the crowd: Yelling COCKSUCKAAAAA when we mention the song swearengen in front of a gay/lesbian crowd, probably a little impolite (although no one made a big deal of it, which is cool), but still hilariously bad timing. Thanks to all for letting us get REAL sweaty and dirty on stage, and as a plus, I can now add “Interlock” as another surface I’ve played a show on. Thank you lord.

NxNE

NxNE in Toronto was a great time had by all. The trip was full of conversation about “Hanna Montana juice box’s”, “Ya’opera” (the act of yawning Opera), and other random odd stuff. We got to the El Macombo a little early so we loaded our gear in and then headed down the street to get some food and wait for our friend Rob. Rob met up with us around 7pm so we could head over to Dundas Square to meet Mellissa Auf der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins) after her set and also caught a set from ‘The Burning Brides’. Got to say I have always like the Burning Brides (been a fan since 2000) some great riff rock and a solid 3 piece band with a tight rocking female bass player.
I had to take my dog (Siberian husky) on the road with us yesterday and it seemed as if she was more the star back stage then the artist. Way to go pup! After the Burning Brides we all had a chat and a beer with Auf der Maur (Always a pleasure to catch up Melissa) and then headed back towards the El Macombo for our set at Midnight. Drank a few beers and then got ready to tear some faces off. Mike Raymond who has been standing in for us on drums did a fantastic job last night for his first show with APlotAgainstMe. I know the entire band is excited to play again in Montreal this weekend with Mike. Keep it up Rainman. After blasting out some sound waves for our set we packed our shit up and got the fuck out of dodge. Leaving Toronto at 2am is always fun for a 5 and 1/2 hour drive back home. Hey… all in the way of making a band work. We all had a blast and I am sure Sylvain will post some of the craziness that I have not spread yet from the trip. See ya in Montreal for Fringe Pop this Sunday. Oh ya added some links to check out the Brides and Auf der Maur .
Laters.

Yee being ME, Sylvain. So fucking listen!
We’ve released a new song called “Im No Monster”, had some fun doing that one. Dan’s on bass, Shawn’s in producing mode, and I’m playing some of the ol’ drums, vocals and guitars on there. Fun fun fun, and guess what? It’s FREE to download by clicking here.

We’re writing a bunch of new stuff too, and finishing older songs.
Oh yeah, NxNe will be rocked by APAM, featuring Mike Raymond on drums. That’s also new. We’re very secretive, us douchebags. It’s the Code Of The Douche. Never diverge from it…

See you soon.
